Buyer Beware:
Kindly read the full ingredient list before buying any cosmetic product.Algin,  which is sodium salt.an acne causing agent is found in the list and it is comedogenic.  Then we have the culprit Sodium Benzoate.Sodium Benzoate is mostly used as a preservative in foods and cosmetic products. Thank god it is listed towards the last in the ingredient list. Sodium benzoate when combined with Vitamin C becomes Benzene,a toxic carcinogen. The recommended dosage is 0.1% in the cosmetic products. It is generally not recommended to leave any cosmetic product containing sodium benzoate on the skin for an extended period of time.Being a Vitamin C line, I am concerned about Sodium Benzoate.

Final thoughts:
I found all the ingredients to be  derived from plants. Though I like the composition mostly, it is not product for a oily skin. As I don't have wrinkles yet, I cannot comment on  being the product which fades wrinkles and lines. It is not a product for me.

It is time to explore some oils. I have always been fascinated by  different oils that is available in the stores. You can find these aromatherapy oils in drug stores itself. Make sure it is 100% pure, if you want to buy it.  Before going to bed, I always apply Jojoba (pronounced ‘hohoba’ )oil on my hand to make it softer. It has almost become my daily routine.

I have oily skin  in summer and a combination skin in winter. It really drives me  crazy  trying to pick up the product suitable for my skin.

Lately I have been having some acne problems on my neck region. As I  always prefer 100 % natural  for my skin problems,I have been reading the benefits of  Tea Tree oil as a natural remedy for getting rid of acne.

Ingredients
Jojoba oil*- 2 tbsp
Tea Tree oil*-4 drops
Ceramic Bowl-1

In a ceramic bowl, mix together the above oils. Then gently massage the  above mixture on the face and on the neck in small circles for about 5 minutes. Then  gently wipe the entire face and the neck region with a warm clean towel. You will see an immediate brightening of  the skin. I would recommend you to try before bedtime. It is good moisturizer for acne prone or oily skin.

Jojoba oil+ Tea Tree Oil= A very good moisturizer.

I will post some recipes of using Jojoba oil in Hair care.

Golden Rule:
Never touch or break your acne with your fingers.I have done it in my teen years. I am having scars of that.:-(

*Kindly refer to the Glossary page for the information on the ingredients.

Hello Beautiful,

First  of all I want to make it clear, I am not against the use of cosmetics but against the use of chemicals in my cosmetics.

Quite lately I have been reading about the US cosmetic industry. Do you know there is no regulation for Cosmetic Industry?
The reason is Cosmetic industry is 30 Billion dollars in US market.

The FDA is a regulatory authority which monitors the Cosmetics products .Basically, if a Cosmetic company abide by the ingredients  that is listed in United States by FDA, it can manufacture any product it wants to. The consumer is the scapegoat here. Unless and until a consumer reports there is a problem in the product, the  cosmetic industry can keep on selling the product. But how I can find that cancer is caused by the Lipstick that I have been using for 5 years?  From baby products to Lipsticks that we use in day to day of our life, there are chemicals that is used in our cosmetics that are carcinogens.Over 85-90% of the cosmetics that we use contains Paraben.

(On September 6, 1997 the Boston Globe reported that “The General Accounting Office, the investigative branch of Congress, has identified more than 125 cosmetic ingredients suspected of causing cancer- and others that may cause birth defects.”! Many of the harmful chemicals still used abundantly in cosmetics in the United States have been long banned in the rest of the world's countries.)Source: After glow Cosmetics

The European council has banned so many ingredients from the cosmetics products. Don't be fooled by the big company names. Everybody is in the market is to make profit. It is up to us to be educated and make the wise decision of putting a full stop to the chemicals  in the products. "Buyer Beware" is the principle that  we have to adopt when choosing the product for ourselves and our family.

If I start blaming here, the list  will be endless. It is better for us  to be "the change" and demand change. I found an interesting video on the use of toxins in cosmetics. It will surely make us think on next purchase.

The Story of Cosmetics, released on July 21st, 2010, examines the pervasive use of toxic chemicals in our everyday personal care products, from lipstick to baby shampoo. Produced with Free Range Studios and hosted by Annie Leonard, the seven-minute film by The Story of Stuff Project reveals the implications for consumer and worker health and the environment, and outlines ways we can move the industry away from hazardous chemicals and towards safer alternatives. The film concludes with a call for viewers to support legislation aimed at ensuring the safety of cosmetics and personal care products.

I  have been having the Trader Joe's Greek yogurt in my for quite some time. After having an hair cut, suddenly I developed Dandruff problem. I had an idea of mixing a cup of Greek yogurt with 2 tbsp of Lemon juice and mix it. I applied  it  to my hair  from roots to ends. I washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner after 30 minutes. The same mask I repeated after 3 days. You will not believe the result, I am completely dandruff free just after 2 uses. The amount of yogurt varies according to length of hair.Applying Lemon juice  directly on the skin is not advisable. The results may vary according to the intensity of the dandruff problem.

Who can't resist strawberries? Half of the strawberries that I buy from the shop goes on my skin and my hair.  It is very irresistible once you start using Strawberry in your face mask.I like to prepare my mask fresh and use it immediately. If you have some unused portion left, you can use it like a scrubber when you are washing your face.

Ingredients:

Strawberry -1
Honey-1/4 tsp
Besan- 1 tbsp

Mash the strawberry ,honey and besan in a small blender. You will find a little itching sensation on the skin while it is getting dried.  Apply it  on a clean face  and neck for 15-20 minutes. Besan is  used as a binding agent which helps strawberry stay  on the skin. You can adjust to whatever consistency you want to.Give a gentle scrub using  warm water and remove the mask  after it is dried. You will surely feel refreshed and it gives a nice glow to the face.None of the ingredients is harmful to your skin. Be sure to try out on a small patch to test whether you are allergic to any of the  ingredients.
